Water for Gaza
Solar powered Community Well to provide clean water in central Gaza

We have been fundraising for more than a year for the Solar Well Project in Gaza, initiated by a former Lancaster resident who returned to Gaza. The well has been up and running for a year. We recently secured a £9K donation from Resourcing Justice to help move the project forward by digging a further well, in the hope of finding better quality water.

Our friend said "Thank You to all friends in Lancaster for your support and solidarity. This Well Project is not just infrastructure. It is an act of defiance. Whilst bombs seek to bury us you are helping us dig deeper for life. You are asserting that our humanity is bound together. Thank You for helping us dig for hope”

Fundraiser Event: Water for Gaza

Friday 27th September, Palestine Solidarity Campaign Lancaster hosted a fundraising event, “Water for Gaza” at the Gregson Centre. All monies raised help to build a solar powered community well in Central Gaza - to provide clean and free water to at least 5000 people daily.

An incredible £1,961 was raised for the project, including the £750 through an art auction.

Pete Moser, fundraising event organiser and member of PSC Lancaster said “Thanks to all the performers. To Gaz and his sound system. To the Trades Council for their support in paying for the venue, and to all the people who donated to show that Lancaster is a place where we care about people. Great music making from our group ‘Songs of Gaza’, you’ll hear us again at a rally one Saturday in the future.”
